AMAZING! We’re now in year 17 of The Giz Wiz Show!
(The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006!) If it wasn’t for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. We Go To Tech Day, Javits Center, NYC!
Tech Day is a fun event with lots of start-ups and many business-to-business display tables.
One consumer oriented booth I found was a custom-fit eyeglasses 3D frame maker. The company is called Breezm and they build eyeglass frames crafted for comfort, and tailored by A.I., 3D scan & 3D printing. The spokesperson said: “With us it’s not one fits all. It’s one fits one! Whether you have a narrow or broad nose, prominent features or petite face, Breezm glasses are guaranteed to fit the facial features that make you special.” Breezm adds: “Shopping for the perfect pair of glasses can be stressful. The frames you pick may not fit correctly or all the right-fitting pairs are just not your style. If you manage to find the frames that fit & look fine, they may be out of your price range. As glasses-wearers & lovers, we understand these problems all too well. Our mission at Breezm is to challenge this status quo. We develop advanced technologies & incorporate them with premium materials to create the most comfortable, custom-fit eyewear at an accessible price point.” You’ll see be able to do your personal frame fitting via their app online. A custom 3D printed frame will be $199.00 and a single prescription lens will add $30 according to the person we spoke to at the show.

Two of the stranger gadgets I saw at Tech Day.
This 1st gadget I believe we saw at CES a few years back, the electronic spoon!
Here’s info on that from the company: SpoonTEK uses an ”ion sensory technology”, a first for eating utensils that combines electric stimulation and tongue sensory. It generates a mild electric current to stimulate the tongue and alter taste. Hold SpoonTEK normally, with your finger making contact with the electrode on the handle. Food makes contact with the electrode in the spoon bowl.An LED light on the handle will glow to indicate that the SpoonTEK system is working and delivering a mild electric current that passes through the food you are eating. You won’t feel it, but your taste buds will, as your taste is enhanced instantaneously. It’s about $30.
Not strange enough? Try this! Train Your Brain With TDCS!
So what the heck is TDCS? It’s Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation and it’s said to be an increasingly popular form of neurostimulation. The LiftiD device is said to apply a low level electric current through two electrodes to targeted areas of the brain as an alternative to chemical stimulants such as caffeine, sugar, and other performance enhancers. For healthy individuals (18 years of age and older), TDCS is said to be a safe and effective method to mildly stimulate the brain. MSRP: $159.99.

Fidgets Will Not Die!
Here’s a fun fidget gadget!
It’s the LENORAD Fidget Advent Calendar 2022 w/Christmas Toys. I think kids, parents, well everybody will love this Christmas Fidget Advent Calendar 2022 toys with 24 days of surprising sensory toys. They include Santa pop-it bubble fidget toys, Wind-Up car toy, Christmas tree decoration, squishy toys, key chains, flip cube, finger cap, maze, elastic rope, Christmas sticker etc. Sturdy paper gift box is divided into 24 parts, and hides Christmas fidget toys behind each window. Get a surprise toy every day. The colorful gift box has scored lines to follow to cut open numbered parts for the surprise toys! I thought it was great fun and it was under $20. I don’t know how long the sale will last but when we were recording the show it was less than $15 after using the 20% off coupon. I don’t know how long that will be there, though.

Chad’s Crappy Corner.
Chad’s theme for November, as picked by our loyal Patreons, is Cheap Thrift Store Gadgets.
And Chad’s final Thrift Store gadget is The Leap Frog Explorer. As you’ll see on week’s show, this is an electronic globe that can give you location info, what the country produces, music info and all sorts of other learning tidbits. That of course is assuming it worked. Sadly, Chad couldn’t get it to work even though he put in brand new batteries. But, as we learned, the Leap Frog Explorer Globe, in working order I assume, sells on ebay in the $75 to $85 range.
But wait, why would you pay that, because Chad found there’s a brand new version from Leap Frog with a LCD screen that’s just a few dollars more than some of the used ones. It’s called the LeapFrog Magic Adventures Globe

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video & Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.
This week’s viewer video is from Bill Holmes and it’s quite remarkable. A true “warehouse video”!!
Hi Dick and Chad.
It has been 7 years since my last gadget warehouse video so I figured it’s time for another.
I found this gadget hiding in a closet in a school computer lab I was decommissioning over the summer.

How To Submit Your Video For The Gadget Warehouse & Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Email of the week.
Our email of the week is more of a press release which will be good if Chad every does “Gadgets from thriftstores” again.
Goodwill has created an online site called GoodwillFinds that will sell a range of donated goods, including luxury items like Gucci bags and Prada shoes, that shoppers might expect to find on high-end resale sites like The RealReal and Poshmark. The charity is jumping into an online resale market that’s on track to double in size to $82 billion by 2026, according to a ThredUp report.
