Our Gadget Warehouse Video Submission email this week is from Jeff and Adam Slomovitz, two long time fans of the show who have sent in many other interesting videos. Here’s Jeff’s email:

Good Afternoon Gentlemen

I recently purchased a product that allowed me to relive my childhood. I thought the concept was awesome and being able to transform something into a portable something else is remarkable. I hope you and your audience enjoy it.

Letter of the week:

A Comment on the Miniature Spatulas from Paul A Ayala Sr

Regarding the miniature spatulas you featured on episode 1951, I just had to take a moment to drop a line and shed some light on their purpose.

Your problem with trying to justify the need for such a product is that your mind was set upon comparing them with regular spatulas, spreaders, and utensils. However, these are not intended to be used as your primary serving utensil for jarred products. Rather, they are intended to allow you to scrape the final ounces of the product out of the jar. The perfect examples are ketchup, mayhonnaise, mustard, tarter sauce, etc. You almost always end up throwing those jars away with a few ounces of product still stuck to the bottom. The spatulas are designed so that you can tilt the jars and use them to disengage those final drops of product while gravity works in conjunction to extract it from the container. While this may still seem to be a minor inconvenience, just imagine how much product you have discarded over time without this solution.

So no, those spatulas are not useful if used as your primary utensil to spread product on your food item of choice; but you also cannot use a regular spatula, knife, spoon, or spreader to empty every last bit of your desired spread or sauce as they simply don’t fit that well through the opening or that deep to the bottom without also blocking the exit for said product.

FYI, I am definitely not affiliated with the manufacturer or inventor in any way, just had to scratch the itch I had when watching you express your difficulty in understanding the purpose of the product. Sometimes, your mind just gets stuck with a certain understanding or perspective and t hat makes it difficult to look at things from a different perspective.
