Do you remebmber The Microsoft Zune?
At Dick’s Gadget Warehouse, the Giz Wiz found lots of add-on gadgets for the short-lived Microsoft Zune music player. I liked this device, but it wasn’t around for long. According to Google AI: The Microsoft Zune was released in November 2006 to compete with the Apple iPod. Microsoft officially discontinued all Zune hardware in October 2011, while the supporting digital services. The Zune Marketplace were fully shut down in November 2015. The first Zune, with 30 GB was released on November 14, 2006 at a cost of $249.99. That’s roughly equal to $413.00 today. If you’re interested in owning one, there are dozens of them available on eBay to check out.

Email of the week:
Our email is from a devoted fan of the show and a contributor to a few Giz Wiz theme songs, Ivan Hahn. Ivan emails us:
Hello Dick and Chad,
My partner (Danny) and I were watching old clips on YouTube of Dick’s show on the TKR cable network called Consumer U, the episode we were watching you had a representative from a New Jersey power provider, during this segment the guest talked about getting free or very cheap items to help you save money and power in your new home. Well we looked up Jersey Central Power & Light who is our power company and they still do this kind of promotion/discount. According to their website you can get wifi/smart thermostats for $1.00, some of the brands were Google/Nest or Honeywell. My partner and I are looking currently to buy our first home (which is taking longer than we thought, because we live in NJ and it’s…… expensive) and saving money on stuff like this is key.
I just found it interesting that a clip from the late 80s could still be helping people today. We love seeing all your old shows and segments and we hope to find more. I love seeing Public Access shows from back in the day because that’s where I got my start. While in high school, my school was the home of Cablevision Public Access and I was on cameras and a producer.
Thanks again, Ivan Hahn.
