Our email this week is from Mark, aka Giz1 in chat.

Hello Dick and Chad,

Giz_1 here with another video for the warehouse. I didn’t think we had any old gadgets laying around here, but one day I found something and immediately knew it had to be shown on that same dunb show that I watch every Thursday! Keep up the great work and enjoy the video!

Spoiler Alert: It’s an amazing Sony Recording Walkman with lots of expert features you’ll see in Mark’s video.

Email of the week:

Hi Dick and Chad,

I was catching up on last weeks episode and saw Chad’s tablet holder gadget which reminded me of my setup for long road trips. Our old minivan had a DVD screen in it, but our new Kia EV9 does not. I wanted to setup something for long road trips so the kids wouldn’t get bored and ended up on this. (See photo) The kids are able to play their Switch or use a Roku, with a phone as the hotspot. Here is what I have purchased for the setup.

Screen: KYY 14” Portable Travel Monitor https://a.co/d/88QUDPN

This is actually a really nice screen that the kids can setup on the table and use with their switch or can be used as a second monitor for a laptop.  There are a ton of these if you search for “portable monitor” on Amazon. I didn’t pick this brand for any particular reason.  It would probably make for a nice gadget video itself.

Tablet Holder: Lamicall Car Tablet Holder https://a.co/d/gaMIWwN

I originally had one like Chad’s, but the Kia seats have that “neck” or lip that covers the posts so I needed one like this that extends out the side, not straight out back.  USB Switch Adapter/Dock: RREAKA 100W Charging Docking Station

This works like your standard dock and allows video out and charging. Case: daydayup Switch Carrying case

The case isn’t important but if viewers were curious this is it. I had purchased this long before this setup but it worked out well because the switch can stay in the case and the dock adapter can come right out the bottom with the switch still inside. I only need to check for heat issues on our next road trip with it being enclosed like that.

Finally a couple USB cables and HDMI cable to power everything. The EV9 has USB-C ports in each seat which makes it convenient, but for other vehicles if someone wants to copy this just make sure you have power.

We recently purchased this Anker travel bank which is my favorite ever and it might even work for powering this setup because of its 100W output.  I should test it sometime and let you know. (Also a gadget that might be worth doing it’s own video on)

The EV9 just also happens to have a little pull out drawer in the center console that the switch rests on.

Take care! Steve H. Columbus, OH
