The Giz Wiz Finds a Gadget That Just Might Fit Chad’s February Theme – Practical, but Useless!
It’s the Large Capacity Change Holder for Cars. This coin holder stores up to 100 coins, with slots for pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. The slots are spring loaded, so getting the coins out quickly is very easy. Never having owned a car, I wondered if anyone would have a use for a coin changer in this age of auto-billing just about everything. But several folks in the chatroom, and even Chad said they do keep some coins handy in their car. Chad said this holder seems to be a handy way to keep lose change from rattling around as you drive. It dropped from $9.99 on 2/13/25 to $7.99 on 2/14/25. The price can change at any time.
And this in the Amazon description broke me up: this coin holder for car also works indoors.

Check the latest price on Amazon: https://amzn.to/4gHxygC Oh no! This gadget came up as “unavailable” on 2/13/25. Part of the reason I bet they sold out was the last price I saw. They were 2 for $11.99!! How could anyone not buy a pair of them, for like $6 each!

Cables That Are Mismatched – Here are some USB Adapters That Might Help!
If you’re like me and Chad, you find even though every new electronic is USB-C, you sometimes find you need to connect something, that still has the hated micro-USB connection. That happened to Dennis and searching on Amazon I found some 2-in-1 connectors and some others, that solved the problem.
There’s are simple ‘micro usb to USB-C connectors for as a little as a $1.50. (4/$5.99). And as you’ll see on this week’s we liked the 2-in-1 hub which let me connect USB-A to either USB-C or Micro-USB. There’s a lightening version of that too. Be aware that many connectors online say ‘for charging or data transfer only’, not for connecting heavy draw items like hard drives. So it’s best to check the specs before you buy.
Mine worked great to add a wireless mouse to an older USB-micro input computer.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Our Patreons voted on Chad’s February Theme and the winner was —– PRACTICAL, BUT USELESS gadgets!

You can wine dripping onto the bottom of the collapsible plastic stemware.
What kind of gadget could that possibly be? Well, for his 2nd one, Chad bought the Collapsible Wine Glass. On the company website, it sells for $11.00, but once you see Chad’s demo, I doubt if you’ll want one. Although it’s said to be great for camping or picnics, the fact that Chad’s collapsible glass (which is plastic) started to leak once he filled it, you probably won’t enjoy wine dripping on your and your clothes, indoors or out.
It looks like I found the same item, but this one branded Foldy Flute Collapsible Stemware on Amazon.
It was 2 for $13.99 on 2/14/25, better than $11.00 for one on the website Chad found. Of course, that’s if you still want to gamble on one after seeing Chad’s demo.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
James Dodd sends us another fun video. He emails us:

If you look closely you can see these frames feature Mickey Mouse!
This is about my eyeglasses. This is from an ad I saw on Facebook. I was initially skeptical, but I’ve had these glasses for a while and like them. You upload your prescription to their website and then choose Tops. The glasses were about $350 once I selected my options and the Tops are around $30 each. The Tops connect to the frames using magnets. There is one drawback: I gesture a lot when I talk, so sometimes I hit my glasses and the Top flies off the glasses. Once I found the Top stuck to the refrigerator door.
Hope it gives you something interesting to talk about!
